Personalized Licence Plates

In Alberta, you’re allowed to create a personalized or vanity license plate. Motor vehicle plates can have up to 7 characters (letters or numbers including spaces) and motorcycle plates can have up to 5 characters.

Agents can tell you in the office if the plate you want is available in the province.

Please note, the Government of Alberta won’t permit your vanity plate to include ethnic, religious or political slurs; foul language; sexual connotations; illegal acts; or references to alcoholic beverages, controlled substances, or paraphernalia used in the consumption of these. If your plate is rejected, a Rangeland Agencies agent will inform you and you will be asked to come up with another choice.

Plates are mailed directly to you and typically take four to six weeks to arrive.
