NUANS (Newly Upgraded Automated Name Search) reports are required for named companies or societies when they incorporate, or if a company or society wants to change its name.
When submitting a named company or society for a NUANS search you must specify exactly the name you are searching for including capitalization, spacing and punctuation.
NUANS a computerized search system that compares a proposed name to a database of existing corporate names. The report shows the similarity between the proposed name and the existing names in the database of companies already registered in Alberta and a list of names that are most similar to the proposed name.
If the proposed name has not been taken, the NUANS report will reserve the name for 90 days on behalf of whoever is requesting the report.
