Incorporating a Business in Alberta

Rangeland Agencies can help you incorporate your business in Alberta. First, you need to decide if you want to have a named company or a numbered company. If you want to have a named company, you must first do a NUANS (Newly Upgraded Automated Name Search), which confirms that there are no other registered business names in Alberta similar to yours. The NUANS report will reserve the proposed name for a period of 90 days, in most cases.

Regardless of whether you choose to be a named or numbered company, your company name must include “Corporation”, “Corp.”, “Limited”, or “Ltd.”

Named companies are required to first do a NUANS before moving onto the next step; numbered companies can begin by filling out the following forms (Adobe Reader required):

  1. Articles of Incorporation
  2. Notice of Address
  3. Notice of Directors

You may mail, fax, or email your completed forms to Rangeland Agencies to start your Alberta incorporation process. Please ask a Rangeland Agencies agent if you have any questions as you go through the process.
